The novelist Taiye Selasi was one of the guest masters of the Gabo fellowship in cultural journalism. She gives some advices to describe places and approach to beauty in journalism.
The Gabo Fellowship traveled from the 26th of April to the 3rd of May through the places that inspired the macondionan universe of García Márquez: Aracataca, Barranquilla and Cartagena. During that time, 15 journalists from 11 countries explored the relationship between journalism and fiction, under the leadership of four international masters.
This event was organized by the FNPI- Gabriel García Márquez New Iberoamerican Journalism Foundation and the Ministry of Culture of Colombia, with the support of the Cartago Foundation and ProColombia.
The Gabo Fellowship is one of the stops of the 'Caravana de historias' (trailer of stories), an FNPI initiative that travels through Iberoamerica in 2017 to make known the legacy of its founder Gabriel García Márquez, to celebrate the 50 years of One Hundred Years of Solitude, and to promote an ethical, creative and innovative journalism.
